Ulinzi aim their arsenal at Ushuru

The battle of wits pitting Ulinzi Stars against Ushuru will be settled on Sunday when the two clubs will fight it out in a Sportpesa Premier League tie at Afraha Stadium.

Both teams shared the spoils with their opponents last weekend, with Ulinzi Stars settling for a 1-1 draw with Nairobi City Stars, while Ushuru put up a gallant show to hold defending champions Gor Mahia to a barren draw at the Nyayo National Stadium.

Though sitting in a respectable fourth spot with 28 points, Ulinzi coach Robert Matano expressed his reservation with the manner his team was playing by firing blanks leading to their dwindling fortunes.

The military side appears to be lacking firepower with their lead striker John Makwatta, experiencing a dip in form, and his strike partners Kevin Amwayi and Stephen Waruru yet to find their scoring prowess.

Unlike Ulinzi Stars who were very silent in their transfer exercise, the taxmen under coach Ken Kenyatta went full blast by signing 13 players that includes prominent actors with a rich history in their careers.

They include former Gor Mahia and Western Stima striker John Kiplagat, Lamine Diallo (AFC Leopards), Oscar Mbugua (Nairobi City Stars), Eric Mata (Mathare United), Daniel Kiptoo (AFC Leopards), Heriter Luvualu (Sofapaka), Fan Ngaira (Muhoroni Youth), Tony Nyang’or(Coastal Union, Tanzania), Barnabas Tiema (Sofapaka) and Ebrimma Sanneh among others.

Ushuru, have not lost in their last four games but this time they will go full throttle to avenge their first leg loss and haul themselves from position 11.
